Those who will be searching the Internet on Tuesday would notice that the new Google doodle is a tribute to a trailblazing Filipina doctor, Fe Del Mundo.
Del Mundo was born on the 27 of November 1911 in Intramuros, Manila.
She is the first woman admitted as a student of the Harvard Medical School. She is also known as the founder of the first pediatric hospital in the Philippines.
She set up a the nursing school at North General Hospital (now the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center) after the war, was a professor at the University of Santo Tomas (1943-1974) and Pediatrics department chair at the Far Eastern University (1956-1976), among others.
She died on the 6th of August 2011 in Quezon City.
